You lodge the 417 directly with the Australian Government — it's easier than it looks and you skip the middlemen fees. Here's how, for free. And when you land, we help with the hard part: work, housing, bank and insurance.
Quick check for Irish passport holders. Eligibility is set by the Department of Home Affairs.
The whole process is online, on the official Australian Government site. You don't need an agent to lodge it.
Aged 18–35 (inclusive), valid Irish passport, around AUD 5,000 in funds and no dependent children travelling with you. The 417 has no education or English test requirement.
Register at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au and verify your email. This is the official account you lodge and track every Australian visa from. It's free — nobody should charge you to create it.
Select the Working Holiday visa (subclass 417) and answer the identity, health and character questions honestly — inconsistencies delay or refuse applications. You can save drafts.
Passport, proof of funds and a passport-style photo. Use clear, colour scans. (Form 1263 may be required in some cases — the system will tell you.)
The visa fee is around AUD 670 (April 2026), paid inside ImmiAccount when you submit. Note your TRN (Transaction Reference Number) to track your case.
After payment, Home Affairs may ask for biometrics and/or a health check. They'll contact you by email and via ImmiAccount.
Your first 417 must be applied for and granted while you are outside Australia. Check the official processing times and keep an eye on your inbox (including spam).
You must first enter Australia within 12 months of the grant; your 12-month stay starts on that first entry. You can work up to 6 months per employer and study up to 4 months. This is where we come in 👇

See the landing packs →The Working Holiday visa doesn't force you to have insurance, but you should not travel without cover — Ireland has no reciprocal Medicare agreement with Australia, and one emergency can cost thousands of AUD. We take you to OVHC, the cover designed for Working Holiday visitors (OSHC is only for students).
